Melt the butter and stir with the powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, salt and egg yolks until fluffy. Beat egg whites with granulated sugar until stiff, slowly stir into the mixture and fold in.

Stir the walnuts and poppy seeds with baking powder into the mixture.

Then pour the mixture into a greased or paper-lined cake tin (diameter approx. 23 cm) and bake in a preheated oven at 170° with top or bottom heat for 60 minutes.
