Boil the wine with sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Strain it and pour it over the sliced bread. Now boil down this mixture on low heat, stirring constantly, until it becomes a creamy paste. Allow to cool well. Meanwhile, cream butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Stir in the egg yolks and mix in the bread porridge. Pour the mixture into a well-buttered pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 45 minutes until crispy and brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into slices.

This wine pastry tastes just as good lukewarm as cold.
