Peel the plantains with a kitchen knife and cut diagonally about 1 cm thick slices.

In a baking bowl, stir the water with the salt and leave the banana pieces in it for about half an hour. Later take them out, drain them and dry them well.

Heat the oil in a wide frying pan until small bubbles rise on a toothpick held in it. Pour in 4-5 banana pieces at a time and roast over medium heat for about 1 minute on each side. Be careful, danger of splattering! Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Carefully flatten banana chips with a wide object (a small plate or wide kitchen knife). The edges may burst open a little. Fry the chips one more time in oil for about 1 minute until they are crispy and golden brown. Serve hot or warm, sprinkled with salt, as an aperitif.
