For the Granita di Limone, first dissolve sugar in tap water and boil on the stove for 5 minutes. Allow syrup to cool and add lemon juice. Empty the finished mixture about 3 fingers high into a shallow container and place in the freezer. Soon, many small ice flakes will form on the surface.
After about an hour, mix the whole thing properly and return the container to the freezer. The mixture should be stirred again and again at intervals that are not too long, so that a solid crust of ice does not form on the walls.
The finished granita should consist of many small ice crystals. About an hour before serving, pre-chill high-walled drinking glasses in the freezer.
Pour the finished Granita di Limone into the glasses, garnish with lemon slices and serve with a straw.
