Total time: 30 min

Ingredients:

Instructions:

For the stick bread, loosely mix the flour with the dry yeast, salt and sugar in a bowl. Melt the butter. When it has cooled slightly, mix it with the dough. Warm the milk slightly (it should only be lukewarm) and knead the dough with it. Cover and let the dough rise for 20-30 minutes. Now form about 12-14 small dumplings.

For baking you need straight sticks, the end of which you wrap with aluminum foil. Press the dough dumplings firmly onto the aluminum foil and hold them over the embers for about 10 minutes. Be careful that the stick bread does not turn too black on the outside. It is also important to make sure that the fire stops bursting into flames. Otherwise, the stickbread will burn on the outside, and the dough will still be raw on the inside.

For baking stick bread you don’t necessarily need a real campfire, it also works with a normal garden grill.

Preparation Tip:

Butter, herb butter or jam go well with the stick bread.
