For baked sauerkraut boil potatoes, peel and cut into thin slices. Peel and chop onion.

Dice bacon, fry, brown sugar in it, add onion and fry until translucent. Cut sauerkraut into small pieces and season with caraway, nutmeg and juniper berries.

Add water and steam. Cut the smoked meat into slices. Grease a baking dish and alternate sauerkraut, meat and potato slices.

The sauerkraut should be the top layer. Pour sour cream over the casserole and bake at 180 °C for 20 minutes.

Arrange baked sauerkaut and serve.
