Prepare a dough with yeast, some lukewarm milk and a pinch of sugar and let it stand covered in a warm place for 20 minutes.

Add melted butter, egg, salt, rum, remaining sugar and lemon zest and knead with flour and remaining milk until silky smooth. While doing this, beat with wooden spoon until dough bubbles.

Cover and let rise on high in a warm place.

Heat lard, drop in dough by tablespoonfuls and fry until golden brown.

Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
