For the American Apple Pie, first prepare the dough. Knead butter, coconut oil, flour, sugar and salt until crumbly. Add water and yolks. Form the dough into a ball, divide into two parts and place both wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.

In the meantime, prepare the filling. To do this, peel the apples and remove the core. Cut into slices that are not too thin. Squeeze the lemon and immediately mix with the apples. Add sugar and cinnamon and mix well.

Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

Roll out one half of the dough thinly and place it in a greased pie dish. Spread the filling on top. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg. Roll out the second half of the dough as well and place it over the filling. Press down well on the edges. If you have leftover dough, you can use it for decorating. Brush the pie with the egg and prick several times with a fork or cut with a knife. Sprinkle with the fine granulated sugar.

Bake the American Apple Pie for about 1 hour.
